CURVES

Researchers in the ESNL began research investigating the safety and efficacy of the Curves fitness and weight loss program in the spring of 2003 when the lab was located at Baylor University. Since then, researchers within the ESNL have conducted a number of research studies examining the short and long-term impact of women participating in the Curves program. These efforts have culminated in the award of over eight million dollars in grant support to the ESNL from 2003 to 2015 in order to conduct the Curves Women’s Health and Fitness Initiative.

In the summer of 2008, Dr. Kreider was named Head of the Department of Health & Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. The ESNL therefore moved to Texas A&M where the Curves Women’s Health & Fitness Initiative research continued until 2015. ESNL researchers continue to publish important papers from the wealth of data collected as part of the WHFI and this work has literally impacted the lives of millions of women in over 78 countries worldwide.
