Help Assess the Efficacy of Caffeine Alternative on Cognitive Function & Performance

Male & Female Runners Needed for a Pilot Study

Researchers in the Exercise & Sport Nutrition Laboratory (ESNL) within the Human Clinical Research Facility (HCRF) at Texas A&M University are recruiting approximately 24 healthy male and female runners between the ages of 18 and 40 to participate in a study.  Eligible participants should have no history of a cognitive deficit condition and be able to document evidence of completing a 5 km or 10 km road race (or triathlon) with less than an 8 minute/mile pace.  The study will determine the effects of paraxanthine supplementation with and without caffeine on executive function (i.e., cognitive process such as mental control, self-regulation, etc.) and performance.  Eligible participants will receive $200 for completing the study.  Five total visits over approximately four to six weeks will be required.
